As part of Black History Month, Random Row Books will present a special leap year screening of the documentary ‘Soul Power’. Shot in what is now The Democratic Republic of Congo in 1974, this is a film of the concert festival that accompanied the famed Ali V Foreman fight, also known as  ‘The Rumble in the jungle’ as depicted in the oscar winning documentary ‘When we were kings’.
Featuring performances from James Brown, BB King, Bill Withers, The Spinners and many Congolese acts also.
Preceding the film we will show a half hour episode of the R&B program !!!!The Beat. This rare color footage was shot in Dallas in 1966 and features the late Etta James, Blues master Little Milton and the Soul Preacher, Joe Tex.
This important cultural event will be hosted by WTJU FMs The Rum Cove, presenter of The Soulful Situation radio show.
Get there early, because you do not want to miss this!  Starts at 7:00 pm.
