What: Artist Talk & Screen-printing Performance

Piedmont Council for the Arts (PCA) is excited to join New City Arts Inititive and Virginia Arts of the Book Center in presenting a special event with London’s Henningham Family Press.
David and Ping Henningham live and work in London. They write essays and poetry that are completed and reworked through fine art printmaking, bookbinding and performance events such as “The Chip Shop.”
The Henninghams are no ordinary printmakers. Past collaborations include performing with a live band (one with strong ties to Sufjan Stevens, by the way) while making a glow-in-the-dark print as they went along for each audience member. Or, there was the time they participated in a dance performance. During that particular event, a limited-edition book was printed and bound live with the help of the audience and (mysteriously) bar stools.
Collections that have acquired their work include the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Tate, and UCLA. They have performed at hot spots including the BBC Radio Theatre and the London Word Festival.

Admission is $5 at the door, which gets you a seat and a screen-print to take home at the end of the workshop.
